The 2009 – 2010 school year marks the beginning of my third year at Twin Oaks as a teacher. I am a career changer to teaching having worked in the business world for over 25 years, primarily with information technology. Prior to teaching at Twin Oaks, I was a high school special education teacher in Missouri for one year and a special education teacher in New Orleans for one year at an elementary school as well. I am certified to teach both general education (1 - 5) as well as special education (1 - 12).
In addition, I am a member of the following organizations:
· The Smithsonian Institution
· The Nature Conservancy
· National Parks Conservation Association
· Louisiana Arts and Science Museum
· The Foundation for Historical Louisiana
I believe it is important for each of us to be involved in our local community, the United States, and the world we live in. Furthermore, I obtain ideas to include in my classes from these organizations.
I intend for this school year to be an awesome experience and I look forward to each day at Twin Oaks where I am currently the art/enrichment teacher.
This year I will also be a student myself as I start my journey on obtaining my masters from LSU in Educational Technology Leadership.
